Call for participation: Scottish Vision Group Meeting

The Scottish Vision Group Meeting 2019 will take place at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig ( on the Isle of Skye from Friday, April 5th to Sunday, April 7th 2019.

The Scottish Vision Group holds an annual conference for vision scientists from Scotland, the rest of the UK, Europe and beyond. The meeting is small and friendly, and aims to provide an opportunity for scientists at all stages of their career to present their work and discuss ideas.

All conference lodgings are student residences on SMO. "Conference only" includes all meals. As such, non-SVG friends and family should register under "conference only."

For those wishing a more conventional hotel, we recommend the Inn at Ardvasar (, which is a 5-minute drive away from SMO. If staying at Ardvasar, please let them know that you are part of SVG in order to get a discount.

We encourage students and junior researchers to participate. The abstracts from the meeting will be published in i-Perception. We have also been invited to collate a special issue of Vision based on the proceedings of the meeting, offering a great opportunity to get a full publication for no extra cost.

How to get to Sabhal Mòr Ostaig:

The easiest way is by driving. If you do not plan to drive but wish to share a ride, please contact us and we will try our best to help you find someone.

Nearest train station: Kyle of Lochalsh (30 minutes away from SMO)

Nearest ferry terminal: Armadale (5 minutes away from SMO; connects to Mallaig on the other side)

Largest major town: Portree

Nearest airport: Inverness

On Sunday, after the conference ends, we may be able to arrange a group drop-off at one of the train stations or at the airport. If you are interested in sharing the group ride, please contact us.
