The Scottish Vision Group (SVG) is an assembly of regional vision researchers and mailing list whose purpose is to foster interaction between different laboratories involved in research on visual perception in and around Scotland. Typical messages inform members of forthcoming events (such as seminars and conferences) and job announcements.

Call for participation: Scottish Vision Group Conference

Conference Date: March 15-17, 2013

Deadline for abstracts/registration: Feb 12th, 2013

The 12th meeting of the Scottish Vision Group will be held in The Ballachulish Hotel in the picturesque Glencoe area of the Scottish Highlands. For more information on the conference venue and the surrounding area, please visit http://www.akkeronhotels.com/Hotels/Scottish-Highlands/The-Ballachulish-Hotel

Scottish Vision Group holds a three-day (Fri afternoon - Sun lunchtime) conference that attracts vision scientists from Scotland, the UK and beyond. Our aim is to provide an intimate setting for a small group to share scientific ideas and results. The invited speaker for this year’s conference will be Prof Karl Gegenfurtner (University of Giessen). Friday will be devoted to the invited talk, preceded by a round table discussion on the topic of eye movements. The following days will contain a series of talk sessions on various research topics in vision science. The abstracts from the meeting will be published in iPerception.

The cost of the conference will depend on whether you are staying in a single room or sharing.  Based on bed, breakfast, lunch and dinner, for 2 days, we expect the cost to be around 200 pounds per person (single room) and 170 pounds per person (twin room).

This year’s meeting is kindly supported by SR Research.

If you would like to participate, please email your abstract to Dhanraj Vishwanath and Paul Hibbard, this year’s conference organisers, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by 12.2.2012.

Please include the following details in your email:
(1) list of authors
(2) presentation title (or indicate 'non' if you do not want to present)
(3) student or not (we will try to offer a small student discount)
(4) shared or single room
(5) if you’re asking for a shared room, please say who you would like to share with

Those coming from overseas can fly to either Glasgow or Edinburgh airport.  The drive to Glencoe ranges from 2.0–2.5 hrs through some very picturesque highland and loch-side scenery. This year we plan to have a rideshare signup so that out-of-Scotland attendees can drive to Glencoe with their Scottish colleagues from the main Airport locations.   Additionally, the Caledonian overnight sleeper provides the option to travel directly from London Euston Station to Fort William.

look forward to seeing you in Glencoe!
